Significant Bollywood presence at Golden Globe awards

Golden Globe awards is known as the biggest movie awards next to Oscars. It is regarded by most people as a preview of the Oscars too as Golden Globe awards winners also make it very well in the Oscars. This year when the awards would be presented at Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 11, there would a big Bollywood presence to grace the occasion. It would be very special because Bollywood’s most respected and probably best music director would be contending for the Best Original Score for the Danny Boyle film, SlumDog Millionaire (the film has already won 55 awards within two months of its release in the USA and stars Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and other Bollywood actors in its cast). A R Rehman said

he Golden Globe nomination for my music and all the various awards I have received for SlumDog Millionaire surprised me. I want to win this award for India. For a Hindi film I usually work with 193 cues. In the case of Slumdog, I have worked with only 17 cues. So I’m all the more overwhelmed with the response to the music. I’m also happy that while making this film Danny kept the Indian sentiment at heart. And his respect for India as a country and her people bowled me over. The score of SlumDog is special because I had to move away from my usual genre of sugary sentimental genre but wanted something with an absolute cutting edge

It would also be special as Shahrukh Khan, Bollywood’s own King Khan would become the first Indian to present an award at the Golden Globes. Karan Johar is also invited in the award ceremony.

Hope A R Rehman wins the award and gets his worthy due at the Golden Globe and then the Oscars.
