Aamir Khan’s Ghajini has raked huge amount of money at the box office and has become one of the most successful Bollywood films of all time. So, when the Ghajini team celebrated the second success party of Ghajini after making 200 crores, the producer of the movie Madhu Mantena decided to show his gratitude to Aamir by presenting him a golden statue of Aamir. This statue shows Aamir’s Ghajini look and is made of solid gold. The statue might have cost Madhu about 70 – 80 lakhs though he was not ready to tell the amount spent in the statue. The statue was made similar to the Oscar award statue and also had Aamir’s eight pack Ghajini abs in it. The director A R Murugadoss was also gifted a statue by the producer though it was not of pure gold like Aamir’s.

Madhu said

It has certain amount of other metal to make it malleable. Solid gold wouldn’t allow the identical Ghajini shape to be done in gold. But the idea was to create an Oscar-sized statue exclusively for Ghajini. Aamir knew he was getting a trophy. But he didn’t know it would be golden and with his Ghajini’s look. He was overwhelmed

Now Aamir has accepted this golden statue although he had rejected his wax statue being made at Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum in London in the past. He did not like to be immortalized at Tussauds as he believed that it was not a priority for him. Its a bit difficult to understand Aamir sometimes Aamir Khan presented with Ghajini statue made of gold

Ghajini faces PIL for an “A” certificate

Ghajini has already rocked all cinema houses after the copyright issues with the original Tamil producers got resolved. There was a fear of postponing of Ghajini during its release as Chennai High Court had stopped the screening of the film just a day before the film’s release. However, the Mumbai High Court ruled in it’s favour and Ghajini went live on Christmas. We all know the story after that when it went on to become the most successful Bollywood movie in such a short span of time gathering over 170 crores gross in 10 days. The copyright issues seems to have been resolved but there is another fresh case appearing. Pratibha Naithani a lecturer at St Xavier’s College, Mumbai has filed a PIL “in the interest of children” at the Mumbai High Court challenging the U/A certificate received by Ghajini. She states that there is too much violence in the movie to be provided with an U/A certificate and the hearing of the case is slated for next week. She is already won a PIL in the past which forced TV channels to stop telecasting A rated adult films on the idiot box. Lets wait and see what happens but Ghajini has already made enough moolah and this would hardly affect its box office collections. Ghajini faces PIL for an A certificate

Aamir Khan has been promoting Ghajini like never before and media shy Aamir Khan has turned into an extremely media friendly Aamir Khan. Ghajini has already set all box office records on fire with its huge success and turning out to be the most successful movie of 2008 and likely to become the highest box office earner in Bollywood history. But this has not stopped Aamir Khan and he is going on promoting Ghajini in every measure he can even after the movie’s release and subsequent huge success. He turned out at Radio Mirchi which is one of the most popular FM radio stations in India and answered to callers there. Aamir great going man. Aamir Khan at Radio Mirchi

Aamir Khan defeats Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan may be the King Khan but Aamir Khan has defeated SRK once again and proved that he is the king of Bollywood and a perfectionist actor. Aamir Khan’s Ghajini has already been declared a superhit and has all the signs that it would become a blockbuster. Shahrukh Khan’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was also a huge success but it was much lesser in terms of box office collections. Both the Khan’s were at loggerheads recently over who is the best actor in Bollywood and janta has decided to crown Aamir Khan as the best actor in Bollywood.

According to boxofficeindia, the Ghajini reports are as follows

The Ghajini craze continued all over India on Friday as the film collected another 11 crore adding to the 1.75 crore paid previews and 8.75 crore business on Thursday. The nett business for 2 days is an amazing 21.50 crore nett. The expectations now are for 11.50 crore on Saturday and another 13 crore on Sunday.

This would mean all the records completely torn apart as the film would have 46 crore nett business over a four day weekend when no other film has even grossed this much over the whole week. The first week looks to be heading for 60-65 crore nett business which is a mind numbing figure and simply historic.

For RNBDJ, boxofficeindia reported

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has done exceedingly well in week one with business of around 41 crore nett. The film has done well in all circuits of india though Bihar is on the lower side. Mysore is record breaking and North is very strong. The film should emerge a Superhit and it remains to be seen if it can do blockbuster business. The 8th day is steady at places with smaller centres seeing larger falls.

So Ghajini will do a much higher business than RBNDJ and is expected to become the first Indian movie to cross the 100 crore net profit. Aamir has beat Shahrukh for sure and proved that he is the best actor though I regard both of them to be very good.

Golmaal Returns and Fashion light up box office on Diwali

Golmaal Returns and Fashion were released on Diwali with a lot of expectations as there were no big crackers in the box office for sometime. And Diwali week is always regarded as a very good week to release movies as there has been good business on Diwali throughout the years. This time India is going through economic strains and so filmmakers and distributors were worried if movies would do good business inspite of the economic situation.

This year the box office has again responded well this Diwali. Both Golmaal Returns and Fashion opened with 80-90% occupancy in the first two days. While the distributors has revealed that Golmaal Returns grossed over Rs 11 crore in the first day itself and Fashion earned 7 crore. The best part is that Golmaal Returns and Fashion are targetted at different audience groups and so will not be affecting each others business. Golmaal is already a sure shot hit and might be even a superhit if it sustains in the second week. Fashion is doing well in multiplex audiences in the metros and it is picking up very good after a slow start. It seems Diwali 2008 might even be better than Diwali 2007 in terms of box office collections although there are no huge films like Om Shanti Om and Sawariya like 2007.
